To Timothy, my genuine child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. To Timothy my true son in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Just as I exhorted you to remain in Ephesus in my going to Macedonia, so that you might charge certain ones not to teach other doctrines As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer
nor to give heed to myths and endless genealogies, which cause controversies rather than the stewardship of God that is in faith. nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith.
Now the goal of our charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith, The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
from which certain ones, having missed the mark, turned aside to empty talk, Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk.
wanting to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor that about which they confidently assert. desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.
knowing this, that law is not laid for a righteous one, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for slayers of man, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
for the sexually immoral, homosexuals, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and if anything other is opposed to being sound in the teaching, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted. in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted. that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
I have gratitude to the One having empowered me, Christ Jesus our Lord, that He esteemed me faithful, having put me to service, I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.
formerly being a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and insolent; but I was shown mercy, because, being ignorant, I did it in unbelief. though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
And the grace of our Lord exceedingly abounded with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
Trustworthy is the word, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.
But because of this I was shown mercy, so that in me, the foremost, Christ Jesus might display all patience, as a pattern for those being about to believe on Him unto eternal life. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
Now to the King of the ages, the immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory to the ages of the ages! Amen. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I commit to you this charge, Timothy my child, according to the prophecies upon you going before, so that by them you may wage the good warfare, This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well,
having faith and a good conscience, which some having thrust away, made a shipwreck concerning the faith, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I handed over to Satan so that they should be disciplined not to blaspheme. among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.
