1 So, since Christ suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
2 in that he spends the rest of his time on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires. so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
3 For the time that has passed was sufficient for you to do what the non-Christians desire. You lived then in debauchery, evil desires, drunkenness, carousing, drinking bouts, and wanton idolatries. For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.
4 So they are astonished when you do not rush with them into the same flood of wickedness, and they vilify you. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.
5 They will face a reckoning before Jesus Christ who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Now it was for this very purpose that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead, so that though they were judged in the flesh by human standards they may live spiritually by God's standards. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Dear friends, do not be astonished that a trial by fire is occurring among you, as though something strange were happening to you. Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice and be glad. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, who is the Spirit of God, rests on you. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or thief or criminal or as a troublemaker. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.
16 But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear such a name. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
17 For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God? For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous are barely saved, what will become of the ungodly and sinners? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
19 So then let those who suffer according to the will of God entrust their souls to a faithful Creator as they do good. Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
