1 In the same way, you wives, be subject to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,
2 as they observe your pure conduct with fear. when they see your respectful and pure conduct. when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.
3 Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on garments; Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible quality of a lowly and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
8 Now to sum up, all of you be like-minded, sympathetic, brotherly, tender-hearted, and humble in spirit; Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR FEAR, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED, But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”
15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and fear, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
16 having a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who disparage your good conduct in Christ will be put to shame. having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
17 For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing good rather than for doing wrong. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
18 For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, so that He might bring you to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.
