1 Dare any of you, hauing businesse with another, be iudged vnder the vniust, and not rather vnder ye saintes? When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people?
2 Do ye not knowe that the saintes shall iudge the worlde? If the worlde shalbe iudged by you, are ye vnworthy to iudge the smallest matters? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
3 Know ye not howe that we shal iudge the angels? Howe much more thinges that parteyne to this lyfe? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
4 If then ye haue iudgement of thinges parteynyng to this lyfe, set vp them to iudge whiche are least esteemed in the Churche. So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church?
5 I speake it to your shame: Is it so that there is not a wyse man among you? no not one that can iudge betwene brother and brother? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?
6 But one brother goeth to law with another, and that vnder the vnbeleuers? but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? But instead, one brother takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!
7 Nowe therefore there is vtterly a fault among you, because ye go to lawe one with another: Why rather suffer ye not wrong? why rather suffer ye not harme? To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
8 Nay, ye your selues do wrong, and do harme, and that to your brethren. But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers! Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.
9 Knowe ye not that the vnrighteous shall not inherite the kingdome of God? Be not deceaued: neither fornicatours, nor idolatours, nor adulterers, nor weaklinges, nor abusers of them selues with mankinde, Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
10 Nor theeues, nor couetous, nor drunckardes, nor cursed speakers, nor pyllers, shall inherite the kingdome of God. nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are wasshed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are iustified in the name of the Lord Iesus, and by the spirite of our God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. And that is what some of you were. 12 All thinges are lawfull vnto me, but al thinges are not profitable: Al things are lawfull vnto me, but I will not be brought vnder the power of any. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything|—but I will not be mastered by anything.
13 Meates are ordeyned for the belly, and the belly for meates: but God shall destroy both it, and them. Nowe the body is not for fornication: but for the Lorde, and the Lorde for the body. “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14 And God both hath raysed vp the Lorde, and also shall rayse vs vp by his power. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
15 Knowe ye not that your bodies are the members of Christe? Shall I then take the members of Christe, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbyd. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
16 Know ye not, that he whiche coupleth him selfe with an harlot, is one body? For two (sayth he) shalbe one fleshe. Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
17 But he that is ioyned vnto the Lord is one spirite. But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Euery synne that a man doeth, is without the body: but he that committeth fornication, sinneth against his owne body. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
19 Knowe ye not that your body is the temple of the holy ghost whiche is in you, whom ye haue of God, and ye are not your owne? Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 For ye are dearely bought: therefore glorifie God in your body and in your spirite, which are Gods. for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
