I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet. | 1For the music director; according to the tune of "Lilies;" by the Korahites, a well-written poem, a love song. My heart is stirred by a beautiful song. I say, "I have composed this special song for the king; my tongue is as skilled as the stylus of an experienced scribe." |
2You are the most handsome of all. Gracious words stream from your lips. God himself has blessed you forever. | 2You are the most handsome of all men! You speak in an impressive and fitting manner! For this reason God grants you continual blessings. |
3Put on your sword, O mighty warrior! You are so glorious, so majestic! | 3Strap your sword to your thigh, O warrior! Appear in your majestic splendor! |
4In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice. Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds! | 4Appear in your majesty and be victorious! Ride forth for the sake of what is right, on behalf of justice! Then your right hand will accomplish mighty acts! |

14In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, accompanied by her bridesmaids. | 14In embroidered robes she is escorted to the king. Her attendants, the maidens of honor who follow her, are led before you. |
15What a joyful and enthusiastic procession as they enter the king’s palace! | 15They are bubbling with joy as they walk in procession and enter the royal palace. |
16Your sons will become kings like their father. You will make them rulers over many lands. | 16Your sons will carry on the dynasty of your ancestors; you will make them princes throughout the land. |
