New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. | 1A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. |
Don’t put your servant on trial, for no one is innocent before you. | 2And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. |
My enemy has chased me. He has knocked me to the ground and forces me to live in darkness like those in the grave. | 3For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead. |
I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. | 4Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. |
I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done. | 5I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands. |
I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. Interlude | 6I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah. |
Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. | 7Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. |
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you. | 8Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. |
Rescue me from my enemies, LORD; I run to you to hide me. | 9Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me. |
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. | 10Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. |
For the glory of your name, O LORD, preserve my life. Because of your faithfulness, bring me out of this distress. | 11Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble. |
In your unfailing love, silence all my enemies and destroy all my foes, for I am your servant. | 12And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant. |
