New Living TranslationHolman Christian Standard Bible
The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.”1A Davidic psalm. This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:" Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool."
The LORD will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalem ; you will rule over your enemies.2The LORD will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over Your surrounding enemies.
When you go to war, your people will serve you willingly. You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew.3Your people will volunteer on Your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of Your youth belongs to You.
The LORD has taken an oath and will not break his vow: “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”4The LORD has sworn an oath and will not take it back:" Forever, You are a priest like Melchizedek."
The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts.5The Lord is at Your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His anger.
He will punish the nations and fill their lands with corpses; he will shatter heads over the whole earth.6He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; He will crush leaders over the entire world.
But he himself will be refreshed from brooks along the way. He will be victorious.7He will drink from the brook by the road; therefore, He will lift up His head.
