New King James Version | Berean Study Bible |
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, | 1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, |
through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. | 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. |
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; | 3Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; |
and perseverance, character; and character, hope. | 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. |
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. | 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. |
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. | 6For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. |
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. | 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. |
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. | 8But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. |
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. | 9Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! |
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. | 10For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! |
And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. | 11Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. |
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— | 12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. |
(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. | 13For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law. |
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. | 14Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come. |
But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. | 15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many! |
And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. | 16Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification. |
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) | 17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! |
Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. | 18So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men. |
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. | 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. |
Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, | 20The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more, |
so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. | 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. |
