To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Lilies.” A Testimony of Asaph. A Psalm. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth!1For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” A Psalm of Asaph. Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth
Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, Stir up Your strength, And come and save us!2before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your mighty power and come to save us.
Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!3Restore us, O God, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry Against the prayer of Your people?4O LORD God of Hosts, how long will Your anger smolder against the prayers of Your people?
You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in great measure.5You fed them with the bread of tears and made them drink the full measure of their tears.
You have made us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.6You make us contend with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.
Restore us, O God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!7Restore us, O God of Hosts, and cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations, and planted it.8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and transplanted it.
You prepared room for it, And caused it to take deep root, And it filled the land.9You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land.
The hills were covered with its shadow, And the mighty cedars with its boughs.10The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.
She sent out her boughs to the Sea, And her branches to the River.11It sent out its branches to the Sea, and its shoots toward the River.
Why have You broken down her hedges, So that all who pass by the way pluck her fruit?12Why have You broken down its walls, so that all who pass by pick its fruit?
The boar out of the woods uproots it, And the wild beast of the field devours it.13The boar from the forest ravages it, and the creatures of the field feed upon it.
Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, And visit this vine14Return, O God of Hosts, we pray! Look down from heaven and see! Attend to this vine—
And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, And the branch that You made strong for Yourself.15the root Your right hand has planted, the son You have raised up for Yourself.
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.16Your vine has been cut down and burned; they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.17Let Your hand be upon the man at Your right hand, on the son of man You have raised up for Yourself.
Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.18Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name.
Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!19Restore us, O LORD God of Hosts; cause Your face to shine upon us, that we may be saved.
