New International VersionNET Bible
Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand.1I looked again, and there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.
I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is."2I asked, "Where are you going?" He replied, "To measure Jerusalem in order to determine its width and its length."
While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him3At this point the angelic messenger who spoke to me went out, and another messenger came to meet him
and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.4and said to him, "Hurry, speak to this young man as follows: 'Jerusalem will no longer be enclosed by walls because of the multitude of people and animals there.
And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be its glory within.'5But I (the LORD says) will be a wall of fire surrounding Jerusalem and the source of glory in her midst.'"
"Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven," declares the LORD.6"You there! Flee from the northland!" says the LORD, "for like the four winds of heaven I have scattered you," says the LORD.
"Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!"7"Escape, Zion, you who live among the Babylonians!"
For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you--for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye--8For the LORD who rules over all says to me that for his own glory he has sent me to the nations that plundered you--for anyone who touches you touches the pupil of his eye.
I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.9"I am about to punish them in such a way," he says, "that they will be looted by their own slaves." Then you will know that the LORD who rules over all has sent me.
"Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you," declares the LORD.10"Sing out and be happy, Zion my daughter! For look, I have come; I will settle in your midst," says the LORD.
"Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.11"Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on the day of salvation, and they will also be my people. Indeed, I will settle in the midst of you all." Then you will know that the LORD who rules over all has sent me to you.
The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.12The LORD will take possession of Judah as his portion in the holy land and he will choose Jerusalem once again.
Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling."13Be silent in the LORD's presence, all people everywhere, for he is being moved to action in his holy dwelling place.
