New International VersionKing James Bible
Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand.1I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
I asked, "Where are you going?" He answered me, "To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is."2Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him3And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it.4And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be its glory within.'5For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
"Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north," declares the LORD, "for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven," declares the LORD.6Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.
"Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!"7Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
For this is what the LORD Almighty says: "After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you--for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye--8For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.9For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
"Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you," declares the LORD.10Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
"Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.11And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
The LORD will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem.12And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling."13Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
