Psalm 116
NIV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.1I love the LORD, because He hears My voice and my supplications.
Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.2Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.
The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow.3The cords of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, save me!"4Then I called upon the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I beseech You, save my life!"
The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.5Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate.
The LORD protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me.6The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.7Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
For you, LORD, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling,8For You have rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling.
that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living.9I shall walk before the LORD In the land of the living.
I trusted in the LORD when I said, "I am greatly afflicted";10I believed when I said, "I am greatly afflicted."
in my alarm I said, "Everyone is a liar."11I said in my alarm, "All men are liars."
What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me?12What shall I render to the LORD For all His benefits toward me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.13I shall lift up the cup of salvation And call upon the name of the LORD.
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.14I shall pay my vows to the LORD, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.15Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones.
Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains.16O LORD, surely I am Your servant, I am Your servant, the son of Your handmaid, You have loosed my bonds.
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.17To You I shall offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, And call upon the name of the LORD.
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,18I shall pay my vows to the LORD, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,
in the courts of the house of the LORD-- in your midst, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.19In the courts of the LORD'S house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
