Of David. A psalm. The LORD says to my lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." | 1A Davidic psalm. This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:" Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool." |
The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, "Rule in the midst of your enemies!" | 2The LORD will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over Your surrounding enemies. |
Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning's womb. | 3Your people will volunteer on Your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of Your youth belongs to You. |
The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." | 4The LORD has sworn an oath and will not take it back:" Forever, You are a priest like Melchizedek." |
The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. | 5The Lord is at Your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His anger. |
He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth. | 6He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; He will crush leaders over the entire world. |
He will drink from a brook along the way, and so he will lift his head high. | 7He will drink from the brook by the road; therefore, He will lift up His head. |
