For the music director; a song, a psalm. Shout out praise to God, all the earth! 1To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm. Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
Sing praises about the majesty of his reputation! Give him the honor he deserves! 2Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Say to God: "How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear before you. 3Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
All the earth worships you and sings praises to you! They sing praises to your name!" (Selah) 4All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.
Come and witness God's exploits! His acts on behalf of people are awesome! 5Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. Let us rejoice in him there! 6He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
He rules by his power forever; he watches the nations. Stubborn rebels should not exalt themselves. (Selah) 7He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.
Praise our God, you nations! Loudly proclaim his praise! 8O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
He preserves our lives and does not allow our feet to slip. 9Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.
For you, O God, tested us; you purified us like refined silver. 10For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
You led us into a trap; you caused us to suffer. 11Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.
You allowed men to ride over our heads; we passed through fire and water, but you brought us out into a wide open place. 12Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
I will enter your temple with burnt sacrifices; I will fulfill the vows I made to you, 13I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble. 14Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
I will offer up to you fattened animals as burnt sacrifices, along with the smell of sacrificial rams. I will offer cattle and goats. (Selah) 15I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.
Come! Listen, all you who are loyal to God! I will declare what he has done for me. 16Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue. 17I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. 18If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
However, God heard; he listened to my prayer. 19But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer or abandon his love for me! 20Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
