New American Standard Bible 1995King James Bible
For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.1To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah.2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him.3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the LORD.5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?" Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O LORD!6There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound.7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
