Psalm 4
NASB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995International Standard Version
1For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.1When I call, answer me, my righteous God! When I was in distress, you set me free. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.
2O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah.2You people, how long will you malign my reputation? How long will you love what is vain and what is false? Interlude
3But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him.3But understand this: the LORD has set apart the godly for himself! The LORD will hear me when I cry out to him!
4Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.4Be angry, yet do not sin. Think about this when upon your beds, and be silent. Interlude
5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And trust in the LORD.5Offer sacrifices that are righteous, and put your confidence in the LORD.
6Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?" Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O LORD!6Many are asking, "Who will help us to see better days?" LORD, may the light of your favor shine upon us.
7You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound.7You have given me more joy in my heart than at harvest times, when grain and wine abound.
8In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.8I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, LORD, enable me to live securely.
