Psalm 2
NASB Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995King James Bible
Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
"Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
"But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."6Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
"I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.7I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.10Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
