King James Bible | New Living Translation |
A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: | 1It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. |
To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, | 2It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, |
Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. | 3accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. |
For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. | 4You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. |
O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. | 5O LORD, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. |
A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. | 6Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: |
When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: | 7Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. |
But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. | 8But you, O LORD, will be exalted forever. |
For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. | 9Your enemies, LORD, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. |
But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. | 10But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. |
Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me. | 11My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. |
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. | 12But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. |
Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. | 13For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. |
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; | 14Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. |
To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. | 15They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!” |
