In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.1Now after the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.2Suddenly there was a severe earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descending from heaven came and rolled away the stone and sat on it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.4The guards were shaken and became like dead men because they were so afraid of him.
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.5But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.6He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come and see the place where he was lying.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.7Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead. He is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there.' Listen, I have told you!"
And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.8So they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.9But Jesus met them, saying, "Greetings!" They came to him, held on to his feet and worshiped him.
Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. They will see me there."
Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.11While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.
And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,12After they had assembled with the elders and formed a plan, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,
Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.13telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came at night and stole his body while we were asleep.'
And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.14If this matter is heard before the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble."
So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.15So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story is told among the Jews to this day.
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.16So the eleven disciples went to Galilee to the mountain Jesus had designated.
And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.17When they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.18Then Jesus came up and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.20teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
