To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.1For the choir director. A Davidic psalm. A song. Praise is rightfully Yours, God, in Zion; vows to You will be fulfilled.
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.2All humanity will come to You, the One who hears prayer.
Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.3Iniquities overwhelm me; only You can atone for our rebellions.
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.4How happy is the one You choose and bring near to live in Your courts! We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, the holiness of Your temple.
By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:5You answer us in righteousness, with awe-inspiring works, God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the distant seas.
Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:6You establish the mountains by Your power, robed with strength.
Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.7You silence the roar of the seas, the roar of their waves, and the tumult of the nations.
They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.8Those who live far away are awed by Your signs; You make east and west shout for joy.
Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.9You visit the earth and water it abundantly, enriching it greatly. God's stream is filled with water, for You prepare the earth in this way, providing people with grain.
Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.10You soften it with showers and bless its growth, soaking its furrows and leveling its ridges.
Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.11You crown the year with Your goodness; Your ways overflow with plenty.
They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.12The wilderness pastures overflow, and the hills are robed with joy.
The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.13The pastures are clothed with flocks and the valleys covered with grain. They shout in triumph; indeed, they sing.
