A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.1A Davidic psalm. The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.2He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.3He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.4Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff--they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.6Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD as long as I live.
