King James Bible | English Standard Version |
Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD. | 1Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD, give praise, O servants of the LORD, |
Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God, | 2who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God! |
Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant. | 3Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant! |
For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. | 4For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession. |
For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. | 5For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. |
Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. | 6Whatever the LORD pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps. |
He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries. | 7He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth, who makes lightnings for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses. |
Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast. | 8He it was who struck down the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and of beast; |
Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants. | 9who in your midst, O Egypt, sent signs and wonders against Pharaoh and all his servants; |
Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings; | 10who struck down many nations and killed mighty kings, |
Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan: | 11Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, |
And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people. | 12and gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to his people Israel. |
Thy name, O LORD, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations. | 13Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, throughout all ages. |
For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants. | 14For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. |
The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. | 15The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. |
They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; | 16They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; |
They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. | 17they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths. |
They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them. | 18Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them. |
Bless the LORD, O house of Israel: bless the LORD, O house of Aaron: | 19O house of Israel, bless the LORD! O house of Aaron, bless the LORD! |
Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD. | 20O house of Levi, bless the LORD! You who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! |
Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD. | 21Blessed be the LORD from Zion, he who dwells in Jerusalem! Praise the LORD! |
