Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,1A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King.2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.3God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together.4For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic; they took to flight.5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor.6Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
By the east wind you shattered the ships of Tarshish.7Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.9We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
As your name, O God, so your praise reaches to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with righteousness.10According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments!11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers,12Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation13Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.14For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
