1When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,1בְּצֵ֣את יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם בֵּ֥ית יַ֝עֲקֹ֗ב מֵעַ֥ם לֹעֵֽז׃
2Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his dominion.2הָיְתָ֣ה יְהוּדָ֣ה לְקָדְשׁ֑וֹ יִ֝שְׂרָאֵ֗ל מַמְשְׁלוֹתָֽיו׃
3The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back.3הַיָּ֣ם רָ֭אָה וַיָּנֹ֑ס הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן יִסֹּ֥ב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
4The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.4הֶֽ֭הָרִים רָקְד֣וּ כְאֵילִ֑ים גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת כִּבְנֵי־ צֹֽאן׃
5What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?5מַה־ לְּךָ֣ הַ֭יָּם כִּ֣י תָנ֑וּס הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן תִּסֹּ֥ב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
6O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs?6הֶֽ֭הָרִים תִּרְקְד֣וּ כְאֵילִ֑ים גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת כִּבְנֵי־ צֹֽאן׃
7Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,7מִלִּפְנֵ֣י אָ֭דוֹן ח֣וּלִי אָ֑רֶץ מִ֝לִּפְנֵ֗י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַעֲקֹֽב׃
8who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.8הַהֹפְכִ֣י הַצּ֣וּר אֲגַם־ מָ֑יִם חַ֝לָּמִ֗ישׁ לְמַעְיְנוֹ־ מָֽיִם׃
