Continue in brotherly love.1Brotherly love must continue.
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.2Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.
Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them.3Remember those in prison as though you were in prison with them, and those ill-treated as though you too felt their torment.
Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.4Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”5Your conduct must be free from the love of money and you must be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you and I will never abandon you."
So we say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”6So we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.7Remember your leaders, who spoke God's message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace and not by foods of no value to those devoted to them.9Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them.
We have an altar from which those who serve at the tabernacle have no right to eat.10We have an altar that those who serve in the tabernacle have no right to eat from.
Although the high priest brings the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, the bodies are burned outside the camp.11For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp.
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate, to sanctify the people by His own blood.12Therefore, to sanctify the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp.
Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace He bore.13We must go out to him, then, outside the camp, bearing the abuse he experienced.
For here we do not have a permanent city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.14For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name.15Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging his name.
And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.16And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.17Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls and will give an account for their work. Let them do this with joy and not with complaints, for this would be no advantage for you.
Pray for us; we are convinced that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.18Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.
And I especially urge you to pray that I may be restored to you soon.19I especially ask you to pray that I may be restored to you very soon.
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,20Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ,
equip you with every good thing to do His will. And may He accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.21equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
I urge you, brothers, to bear with my word of exhortation, for I have only written to you briefly.22Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, bear with my message of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you briefly.
Be aware that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you.23You should know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you.
Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy send you greetings.24Greetings to all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy send you greetings.
Grace be with all of you.25Grace be with you all.
