| 5Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel. | 5‘Since the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there, and I chose no man as prince over my people Israel; | 5Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man for a leader over My people Israel; | 5Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel: | 5"Since the day I brought My people Israel out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city to build a temple in among any of the tribes of Israel, so that My name would be there, and I have not chosen a man to be ruler over My people Israel. |

| 9Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood--he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.' | 9Nevertheless, it is not you who shall build the house, but your son who shall be born to you shall build the house for my name.’ | 9'Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will be born to you, he shall build the house for My name.' | 9Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name. | 9Yet, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own offspring, will build the temple for My name." |
| 10"The LORD has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. | 10Now the LORD has fulfilled his promise that he made. | 18"But will God really dwell on earth with humans? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built! | 18"But will God indeed dwell with mankind on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You; how much less this house which I have built. | 18But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built! | 18But will God indeed live on earth with man? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built. |
| 19Yet, LORD my God, give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy. | 20May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. | 23then hear from heaven and act. | 27then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. | 33then hear from heaven, your dwelling place.
