Job's Plea to God

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
"I loathe my very life; therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.1“I loathe my life; I will give free utterance to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.1"I loathe my own life; I will give full vent to my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.1My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.1I am disgusted with my life. I will express my complaint and speak in the bitterness of my soul.
I say to God: Do not declare me guilty, but tell me what charges you have against me.2I will say to God, Do not condemn me; let me know why you contend against me.2"I will say to God, 'Do not condemn me; Let me know why You contend with me.2I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.2I will say to God: "Do not declare me guilty! Let me know why You prosecute me.
Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked?3Does it seem good to you to oppress, to despise the work of your hands and favor the designs of the wicked?3'Is it right for You indeed to oppress, To reject the labor of Your hands, And to look favorably on the schemes of the wicked?3Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?3Is it good for You to oppress, to reject the work of Your hands, and favor the plans of the wicked?
Do you have eyes of flesh? Do you see as a mortal sees?4Have you eyes of flesh? Do you see as man sees?4'Have You eyes of flesh? Or do You see as a man sees?4Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?4Do You have eyes of flesh, or do You see as a human sees?

Are your days like those of a mortal or your years like those of a strong man,5Are your days as the days of man, or your years as a man’s years,5'Are Your days as the days of a mortal, Or Your years as man's years,5Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,5Are Your days like those of a human, or Your years like those of a man,
that you must search out my faults and probe after my sin--6that you seek out my iniquity and search for my sin,6That You should seek for my guilt And search after my sin?6That thou inquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?6that You look for my wrongdoing and search for my sin,
though you know that I am not guilty and that no one can rescue me from your hand?7although you know that I am not guilty, and there is none to deliver out of your hand?7'According to Your knowledge I am indeed not guilty, Yet there is no deliverance from Your hand.7Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.7even though You know that I am not wicked and that there is no one who can deliver from Your hand?
"Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?8Your hands fashioned and made me, and now you have destroyed me altogether.8'Your hands fashioned and made me altogether, And would You destroy me?8Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.8"Your hands shaped me and formed me. Will You now turn and destroy me?
Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again?9Remember that you have made me like clay; and will you return me to the dust?9'Remember now, that You have made me as clay; And would You turn me into dust again?9Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?9Please remember that You formed me like clay. Will You now return me to dust?

Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese,10Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?10'Did You not pour me out like milk And curdle me like cheese;10Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?10Did You not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese?
clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews?11You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.11Clothe me with skin and flesh, And knit me together with bones and sinews?11Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.11You clothed me with skin and flesh, and wove me together with bones and tendons.
You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.12You have granted me life and steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.12'You have granted me life and lovingkindness; And Your care has preserved my spirit.12Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.12You gave me life and faithful love, and Your care has guarded my life.
"But this is what you concealed in your heart, and I know that this was in your mind:13Yet these things you hid in your heart; I know that this was your purpose.13'Yet these things You have concealed in Your heart; I know that this is within You:13And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.13"Yet You concealed these thoughts in Your heart; I know that this was Your hidden plan:
If I sinned, you would be watching me and would not let my offense go unpunished.14If I sin, you watch me and do not acquit me of my iniquity.14If I sin, then You would take note of me, And would not acquit me of my guilt.14If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.14if I sin, You would notice, and would not acquit me of my wrongdoing.

If I am guilty--woe to me! Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head, for I am full of shame and drowned in my affliction.15If I am guilty, woe to me! If I am in the right, I cannot lift up my head, for I am filled with disgrace and look on my affliction.15If I am wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I dare not lift up my head. I am sated with disgrace and conscious of my misery.15If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;15If I am wicked, woe to me! And even if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head. I am filled with shame and aware of my affliction.
If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion and again display your awesome power against me.16And were my head lifted up, you would hunt me like a lion and again work wonders against me.16Should my head be lifted up, You would hunt me like a lion; And again You would show Your power against me.16For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.16If I am proud, You hunt me like a lion and again display Your miraculous power against me.
You bring new witnesses against me and increase your anger toward me; your forces come against me wave upon wave.17You renew your witnesses against me and increase your vexation toward me; you bring fresh troops against me.17'You renew Your witnesses against me And increase Your anger toward me; Hardship after hardship is with me.17Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.17You produce new witnesses against me and multiply Your anger toward me. Hardships assault me, wave after wave.
"Why then did you bring me out of the womb? I wish I had died before any eye saw me.18“Why did you bring me out from the womb? Would that I had died before any eye had seen me18'Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Would that I had died and no eye had seen me!18Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!18"Why did You bring me out of the womb? I should have died and never been seen.
If only I had never come into being, or had been carried straight from the womb to the grave!19and were as though I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave.19'I should have been as though I had not been, Carried from womb to tomb.'19I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.19I wish I had never existed but had been carried from the womb to the grave.

Are not my few days almost over? Turn away from me so I can have a moment's joy20Are not my days few? Then cease, and leave me alone, that I may find a little cheer20"Would He not let my few days alone? Withdraw from me that I may have a little cheer20Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,20Are my days not few? Stop it! Leave me alone, so that I can smile a little
before I go to the place of no return, to the land of gloom and utter darkness,21before I go—and I shall not return— to the land of darkness and deep shadow,21Before I go-- and I shall not return-- To the land of darkness and deep shadow,21Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;21before I go to a land of darkness and gloom, never to return.
to the land of deepest night, of utter darkness and disorder, where even the light is like darkness."22the land of gloom like thick darkness, like deep shadow without any order, where light is as thick darkness.”22The land of utter gloom as darkness itself, Of deep shadow without order, And which shines as the darkness."22A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.22It is a land of blackness like the deepest darkness, gloomy and chaotic, where even the light is like the darkness."
