Hear, you peoples, all of you, listen, earth and all who live in it, that the Sovereign LORD may bear witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.2Hear, you peoples, all of you; pay attention, O earth, and all that is in it, and let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.2Hear, O peoples, all of you; Listen, O earth and all it contains, And let the Lord GOD be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple.2Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.2Listen, all you peoples; pay attention, earth and everyone in it! The Lord GOD will be a witness against you, the Lord, from His holy temple.
Look! The LORD is coming from his dwelling place; he comes down and treads on the heights of the earth.3For behold, the LORD is coming out of his place, and will come down and tread upon the high places of the earth.3For behold, the LORD is coming forth from His place. He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth.3For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.3Look, the LORD is leaving His place and coming down to trample the heights of the earth.
The mountains melt beneath him and the valleys split apart, like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope.4And the mountains will melt under him, and the valleys will split open, like wax before the fire, like waters poured down a steep place.4The mountains will melt under Him And the valleys will be split, Like wax before the fire, Like water poured down a steep place.4And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.4The mountains will melt beneath Him, and the valleys will split apart, like wax near a fire, like water cascading down a mountainside.

All this is because of Jacob's transgression, because of the sins of the people of Israel. What is Jacob's transgression? Is it not Samaria? What is Judah's high place? Is it not Jerusalem?5All this is for the transgression of Jacob and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?5All this is for the rebellion of Jacob And for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the rebellion of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? What is the high place of Judah? Is it not Jerusalem?5For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?5All this will happen because of Jacob's rebellion and the sins of the house of Israel. What is the rebellion of Jacob? Isn't it Samaria? And what is the high place of Judah? Isn't it Jerusalem?
"Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble, a place for planting vineyards. I will pour her stones into the valley and lay bare her foundations.6Therefore I will make Samaria a heap in the open country, a place for planting vineyards, and I will pour down her stones into the valley and uncover her foundations.6For I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the open country, Planting places for a vineyard. I will pour her stones down into the valley And will lay bare her foundations.6Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.6Therefore, I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the countryside, a planting area for a vineyard. I will roll her stones into the valley and expose her foundations.
All her idols will be broken to pieces; all her temple gifts will be burned with fire; I will destroy all her images. Since she gathered her gifts from the wages of prostitutes, as the wages of prostitutes they will again be used."7All her carved images shall be beaten to pieces, all her wages shall be burned with fire, and all her idols I will lay waste, for from the fee of a prostitute she gathered them, and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.7All of her idols will be smashed, All of her earnings will be burned with fire And all of her images I will make desolate, For she collected them from a harlot's earnings, And to the earnings of a harlot they will return.7And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.7All her carved images will be smashed to pieces; all her wages will be burned in the fire, and I will destroy all her idols. Since she collected the wages of a prostitute, they will be used again for a prostitute.

Weeping and Mourning

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
Because of this I will weep and wail; I will go about barefoot and naked. I will howl like a jackal and moan like an owl.8For this I will lament and wail; I will go stripped and naked; I will make lamentation like the jackals, and mourning like the ostriches.8Because of this I must lament and wail, I must go barefoot and naked; I must make a lament like the jackals And a mourning like the ostriches.8Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.8Because of this I will lament and wail; I will walk barefoot and naked. I will howl like the jackals and mourn like ostriches.
For Samaria's plague is incurable; it has spread to Judah. It has reached the very gate of my people, even to Jerusalem itself.9For her wound is incurable, and it has come to Judah; it has reached to the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.9For her wound is incurable, For it has come to Judah; It has reached the gate of my people, Even to Jerusalem.9For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.9For her wound is incurable and has reached even Judah; it has approached the gate of my people, as far as Jerusalem.
Tell it not in Gath; weep not at all. In Beth Ophrah roll in the dust.10Tell it not in Gath; weep not at all; in Beth-le-aphrah roll yourselves in the dust.10Tell it not in Gath, Weep not at all. At Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust.10Declare ye it not at Gath, weep ye not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.10Don't announce it in Gath, don't weep at all. Roll in the dust in Beth-leaphrah.
Pass by naked and in shame, you who live in Shaphir. Those who live in Zaanan will not come out. Beth Ezel is in mourning; it no longer protects you.11Pass on your way, inhabitants of Shaphir, in nakedness and shame; the inhabitants of Zaanan do not come out; the lamentation of Beth-ezel shall take away from you its standing place.11Go on your way, inhabitant of Shaphir, in shameful nakedness. The inhabitant of Zaanan does not escape. The lamentation of Beth-ezel: "He will take from you its support."11Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.11Depart in shameful nakedness, you residents of Shaphir; the residents of Zaanan will not come out. Beth-ezel is lamenting; its support is taken from you.

Those who live in Maroth writhe in pain, waiting for relief, because disaster has come from the LORD, even to the gate of Jerusalem.12For the inhabitants of Maroth wait anxiously for good, because disaster has come down from the LORD to the gate of Jerusalem.12For the inhabitant of Maroth Becomes weak waiting for good, Because a calamity has come down from the LORD To the gate of Jerusalem.12For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the LORD unto the gate of Jerusalem.12Though the residents of Maroth anxiously wait for something good, disaster has come from the LORD to the gate of Jerusalem.

This was the beginning of sin for Daughter Zion, because Israel's acts of rebellion can be traced to you.

Shave your head in mourning for the children in whom you delight; make yourself as bald as the vulture, for they will go from you into exile.16Make yourselves bald and cut off your hair, for the children of your delight; make yourselves as bald as the eagle, for they shall go from you into exile.16Make yourself bald and cut off your hair, Because of the children of your delight; Extend your baldness like the eagle, For they will go from you into exile.16Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from thee.16Shave yourselves bald and cut off your hair in sorrow for your precious children; make yourselves as bald as an eagle, for they have been taken from you into exile.
