The Oil for the Lamps 1And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Command the sons of Israel that they bring to you pure olive oil, pressed, for the light, to make the lamps to go up continually. 3Outside the veil of the Testimony,† in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron shall arrange it from evening until morning before the face of YHWH continually; it is an everlasting statute in your⁺ generations. 4On the pure gold lampstand He shall arrange the lamps before the face of YHWH continually. The Showbread 5And you shall take fine flour and bake with it two and ten cakes; two tenths of an ephah† shall be one cake. 6And you shall set them in two rows, six in a row, on the pure gold table before the face of YHWH. 7And you shall put on each row pure frankincense, that it may be with the bread for a memorial, a fire offering to YHWH. 8On the Sabbath day by Sabbath day he shall arrange it before the face of YHWH continually on behalf of the sons of Israel as an everlasting covenant. 9And it shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place. For it is holy of holies† to him from the fire offerings of YHWH—an everlasting statute.” Punishment for Blasphemy 10And a son of a woman, an Israelitess, went out (and he the son of an Egyptian man) among the sons of Israel. And this son of the Israelitess and a man of the Israelites fought each other in the camp. 11And the son of the woman, the Israelitess, blasphemed the Name and cursed. And they brought him to Moses. And His mother’s name was Shelomith daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. 12And they put him in custody, that it might be shown to them upon the mouth of YHWH. 13And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 14“Take him who has cursed† to the outside of the camp, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. 15And you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If any man curses his God, then he shall bear his sin. 16And whoever blasphemes the name of YHWH must surely be put to death. All the congregation must surely stone him, as well as the sojourner, or him who is born in the land; when he blasphemes the name he shall be put to death. An Eye for an Eye 17And whoever kills any man, he must surely be put to death. 18And he who kills an animal shall make it good—the life of animal for animal. 19And if a man causes disfigurement of his neighbor, as he has done, so shall it be done to him: 20Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth.† As he has caused disfigurement in the man, so shall it be done to him. 21And whoever kills an animal shall restore it; and whoever kills a man, he shall be put to death. 22You⁺ shall have one law. For the sojourner it shall be as the native, for I am YHWH your⁺ God.’” 23And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they took him who had cursed to the outside of the camp, and they stoned him with stones. And the sons of Israel did as YHWH had commanded Moses.
