The Coming Deliverance of Jerusalem

1  מַשָּׂ֥א (The burden) דְבַר־ (of the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) עַל־ (against) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (Israel),

נְאֻם־ (Thus says) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH), נֹטֶ֤ה (the One stretching out) שָׁמַ֙יִם֙ (the heavens), וְיֹסֵ֣ד (and founding) אָ֔רֶץ (the earth), וְיֹצֵ֥ר (and forming) רֽוּחַ־ (the spirit) אָדָ֖ם (of man) בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃פ (within him).

2  הִנֵּ֣ה (Behold), אָ֠נֹכִי (I) שָׂ֣ם (am setting) אֶת־ (-) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֧ם (Jerusalem) סַף־ (as a cup) רַ֛עַל (of drunkenness) לְכָל־ (for all) הָעַמִּ֖ים (the peoples) סָבִ֑יב (round about), וְגַ֧ם (even) עַל־ (against) יְהוּדָ֛ה (Judah) יִֽהְיֶ֥ה (it will be) בַמָּצ֖וֹר (in the siege) עַל־ (and against) יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (Jerusalem).

3  וְהָיָ֣ה (And it will come to pass) בַיּוֹם־ (in the day) הַ֠הוּא (that) אָשִׂ֨ים (I will set) אֶת־ (-) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם (Jerusalem) אֶ֤בֶן (as a stone) מַֽעֲמָסָה֙ (of burden) לְכָל־ (for all) הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים (the peoples); כָּל־ (all) עֹמְסֶ֖יהָ (loading it) שָׂר֣וֹט (being cut) יִשָּׂרֵ֑טוּ (they will be cut), וְנֶאֶסְפ֣וּ (they will gather) עָלֶ֔יהָ (against it) כֹּ֖ל (all) גּוֹיֵ֥י (the nations) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (of the earth).

4  בַּיּ֨וֹם (On the day), הַה֜וּא (that) נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH), אַכֶּ֤ה (I will strike) כָל־ (every) סוּס֙ (horse) בַּתִּמָּה֔וֹן (with confusion), וְרֹכְב֖וֹ (and its rider) בַּשִּׁגָּע֑וֹן (with madness). וְעַל־ (And upon) בֵּ֤ית (the house) יְהוּדָה֙ (of Judah), אֶפְקַ֣ח (I will keep open) אֶת־ (-) עֵינַ֔י (My eyes) וְכֹל֙ (and every) ס֣וּס (horse) הָֽעַמִּ֔ים (of the peoples) אַכֶּ֖ה (I will strike) בַּֽעִוָּרֽוֹן׃ (with blindness).

5  וְאָֽמְר֛וּ (And will say) אַלֻּפֵ֥י (the clans) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah) בְּלִבָּ֑ם (in their heart), אַמְצָ֥ה (Strength) לִי֙ (for) יֹשְׁבֵ֣י (the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם (of Jerusalem) בַּיהוָ֥ה (is in YHWH) צְבָא֖וֹת (of Hosts) אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ (their God).

6  בַּיּ֣וֹם (On the day) הַה֡וּא (that) אָשִׂים֩ (I will set) אֶת־ (-) אַלֻּפֵ֨י (the clans) יְהוּדָ֜ה (of Judah) כְּֽכִיּ֧וֹר (as a basin) אֵ֣שׁ (of fire) בְּעֵצִ֗ים (among the trees), וּכְלַפִּ֥יד (and as a torch) אֵשׁ֙ (of fire) בְּעָמִ֔יר (among the sheaves); וְאָ֨כְל֜וּ (and they will devour) עַל־ (on) יָמִ֧ין (the right) וְעַל־ (and on) שְׂמֹ֛אול (the left); אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הָעַמִּ֖ים (the peoples) סָבִ֑יב (round about), וְיָשְׁבָ֨ה (and will dwell) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֥ם (Jerusalem) ע֛וֹד (again) תַּחְתֶּ֖יהָ (in her place), בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃פ (in Jerusalem).

7  וְהוֹשִׁ֧יעַ (And will save) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) אָהֳלֵ֥י (the tents) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah) בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה (first), לְמַ֨עַן (so that) לֹֽא־ (not) תִגְדַּ֜ל (will become great) תִּפְאֶ֣רֶת (the glory) בֵּית־ (of the house) דָּוִ֗יד (of David) וְתִפְאֶ֛רֶת (and the glory) יֹשֵׁ֥ב (of the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם (of Jerusalem) עַל־ (beyond) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (Judah). 8  בַּיּ֣וֹם (On the day) הַה֗וּא (that) יָגֵ֤ן (will cover) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) בְּעַד֙ (over) יוֹשֵׁ֣ב (the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם (of Jerusalem); וְהָיָ֞ה (and will be) הַנִּכְשָׁ֥ל (the one stumbling) בָּהֶ֛ם (among them) בַּיּ֥וֹם (on the day) הַה֖וּא (that) כְּדָוִ֑יד (like David); וּבֵ֤ית (and the house) דָּוִיד֙ (of David) כֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים (like God), כְּמַלְאַ֥ךְ (like the angel) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃ (before their faces).

9  וְהָיָ֖ה (And it will come to pass) בַּיּ֣וֹם (on the day), הַה֑וּא (that) אֲבַקֵּ֗שׁ (I will seek) לְהַשְׁמִיד֙ (to destroy) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַגּוֹיִ֔ם (the nations) הַבָּאִ֖ים (who are coming) עַל־ (against) יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (Jerusalem).

Mourning the One They Pierced
(John 19:31–37)

10  וְשָׁפַכְתִּי֩ (And I will pour out) עַל־ (on) בֵּ֨ית (the house) דָּוִ֜יד (of David), וְעַ֣ל׀ (and on) יוֹשֵׁ֣ב (the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם (of Jerusalem), ר֤וּחַ (a spirit) חֵן֙ (of grace) וְתַ֣חֲנוּנִ֔ים (and supplication), וְהִבִּ֥יטוּ (and they will look) אֵלַ֖י (on Me) אֵ֣ת (-) אֲשֶׁר־ (whom) דָּקָ֑רוּ (they have pierced), וְסָפְד֣וּ (and they will mourn) עָלָ֗יו (for Him) כְּמִסְפֵּד֙ (like the mourning) עַל־ (over) הַיָּחִ֔יד (the only one) וְהָמֵ֥ר (and grieving) עָלָ֖יו (over Him) כְּהָמֵ֥ר (like the grieving) עַֽל־ (over) הַבְּכֽוֹר׃ (a firstborn).

11  בַּיּ֣וֹם (On the day) הַה֗וּא (that) יִגְדַּ֤ל (will be great) הַמִּסְפֵּד֙ (the mourning) בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם (in Jerusalem), כְּמִסְפַּ֥ד (like the mourning) הֲדַדְ־ (of Hadad-) רִמּ֖וֹן (rimmon) בְּבִקְעַ֥ת (in the plain) מְגִדּֽוֹן׃ (of Megiddo). 12  וְסָפְדָ֣ה (And will mourn), הָאָ֔רֶץ (the land) מִשְׁפָּח֥וֹת (clans) מִשְׁפָּח֖וֹת (by clans) לְבָ֑ד (each by itself); מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת (the clan) בֵּית־ (of the house) דָּוִ֤יד (of David) לְבָד֙ (by itself), וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֣ם (and their wives) לְבָ֔ד (by themselves); מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת (the clan) בֵּית־ (of the house) נָתָן֙ (of Nathan) לְבָ֔ד (by itself), וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם (and their wives) לְבָֽד׃ (by themselves); 13  מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת (the clan) בֵּית־ (of the house) לֵוִי֙ (of Levi) לְבָ֔ד (by itself), וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם (and their wives) לְבָ֑ד (by themselves); מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת (the clan) הַשִּׁמְעִי֙ (of Shimei) לְבָ֔ד (by itself), וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם (and their wives) לְבָֽד׃ (by themselves); 14  כֹּ֗ל (all) הַמִּשְׁפָּחוֹת֙ (the clans) הַנִּשְׁאָר֔וֹת (remaining), מִשְׁפָּחֹ֥ת (clans) מִשְׁפָּחֹ֖ת (by clans) לְבָ֑ד (each by itself), וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם (and their wives) לְבָֽד׃ס (by themselves).
