The Glory of Zion

1  יְשֻׂשׂ֥וּם (Will be glad) מִדְבָּ֖ר (the desert) וְצִיָּ֑ה (and the dry land)

וְתָגֵ֧ל (will rejoice), עֲרָבָ֛ה (and the desert plain) וְתִפְרַ֖ח (and blossom) כַּחֲבַצָּֽלֶת׃ (like the rose).

2  פָּרֹ֨חַ (With blossoming) תִּפְרַ֜ח (it will blossom)

וְתָגֵ֗ל (and rejoice) אַ֚ף (even) גִּילַ֣ת (with joy) וְרַנֵּ֔ן (and singing);

כְּב֤וֹד (the glory) הַלְּבָנוֹן֙ (of Lebanon) נִתַּן־ (will be given) לָ֔הּ (to it)

הֲדַ֥ר (the splendor) הַכַּרְמֶ֖ל (of Carmel) וְהַשָּׁר֑וֹן (and Sharon),

הֵ֛מָּה (they) יִרְא֥וּ (will see) כְבוֹד־ (the glory) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH),

הֲדַ֥ר (the splendor) אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ס (of our God).

3  חַזְּק֖וּ (Strengthen) יָדַ֣יִם (the hands), רָפ֑וֹת (limp)

וּבִרְכַּ֥יִם (and the knees) כֹּשְׁל֖וֹת (the feeble) אַמֵּֽצוּ׃ (make firm).

4  אִמְרוּ֙ (Say) לְנִמְהֲרֵי־ (to the hastened) לֵ֔ב (of heart),

חִזְק֖וּ (Be strong), אַל־ (do not); תִּירָ֑אוּ (fear)

הִנֵּ֤ה (behold), אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ (your⁺ God) נָקָ֣ם (with vengeance), יָב֔וֹא (He comes)

גְּמ֣וּל (with the recompense); אֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God) ה֥וּא (He) יָב֖וֹא (will come) וְיֹשַׁעֲכֶֽם׃ (and save you⁺).

5  אָ֥ז (Then) תִּפָּקַ֖חְנָה (will be opened), עֵינֵ֣י (the eyes) עִוְרִ֑ים (of the blind)

וְאָזְנֵ֥י (and the ears) חֵרְשִׁ֖ים (of the deaf) תִּפָּתַֽחְנָה׃ (will be unstopped).

6  אָ֣ז (Then) יְדַלֵּ֤ג (will leap) כָּֽאַיָּל֙ (like a deer), פִּסֵּ֔חַ (the lame one)

וְתָרֹ֖ן (will sing); לְשׁ֣וֹן (and the tongue) אִלֵּ֑ם (of the mute one)

כִּֽי־ (for) נִבְקְע֤וּ (will burst forth), בַמִּדְבָּר֙ (in the wilderness) מַ֔יִם (waters)

וּנְחָלִ֖ים (and torrents) בָּעֲרָבָֽה׃ (in the desert plain).

7  וְהָיָ֤ה (And will become) הַשָּׁרָב֙ (the parched ground) לַאֲגַ֔ם (like a pool),

וְצִמָּא֖וֹן (and the thirsty land) לְמַבּ֣וּעֵי (like springs) מָ֑יִם (of water);

בִּנְוֵ֤ה (in the abode where) תַנִּים֙ (jackals) רִבְצָ֔הּ (once lay),

חָצִ֖יר (will be grass) לְקָנֶ֥ה (with reeds) וָגֹֽמֶא׃ (and papyrus).

8  וְהָיָה־ (Will be) שָׁ֞ם (there), מַסְל֣וּל (and a highway) וָדֶ֗רֶךְ (and a way),

וְדֶ֤רֶךְ (the Way) הַקֹּ֙דֶשׁ֙ (of Holiness); יִקָּ֣רֵא (will be called) לָ֔הּ (and it)

לֹֽא־ (will not) יַעַבְרֶ֥נּוּ (pass over it) טָמֵ֖א (the unclean)

וְהוּא־ (and it is) לָ֑מוֹ (for those) הֹלֵ֥ךְ (walking on) דֶּ֛רֶךְ (the Way),

וֶאֱוִילִ֖ים (and fools), לֹ֥א (not) יִתְעֽוּ׃ (will wander it).

9  לֹא־ (No) יִהְיֶ֨ה (will be) שָׁ֜ם (there), אַרְיֵ֗ה (lion)

וּפְרִ֤יץ (and the violent) חַיּוֹת֙ (beasts) בַּֽל־ (will not) יַעֲלֶ֔נָּה (go up on it)

לֹ֥א (it will not) תִמָּצֵ֖א (be found) שָׁ֑ם (there);

וְהָלְכ֖וּ (will walk it) גְּאוּלִֽים׃ (but the redeemed).

10  וּפְדוּיֵ֨י (And the ransomed) יְהוָ֜ה (of YHWH) יְשֻׁב֗וּן (will return),

וּבָ֤אוּ (and will they will enter) צִיּוֹן֙ (Zion) בְּרִנָּ֔ה (with singing)

וְשִׂמְחַ֥ת (and with joy), עוֹלָ֖ם (everlasting) עַל־ (on) רֹאשָׁ֑ם (their heads).

שָׂשׂ֤וֹן (Joy) וְשִׂמְחָה֙ (and gladness) יַשִּׂ֔יגוּ (will overtake them)

וְנָ֖סוּ (will flee). יָג֥וֹן (And sorrow) וַאֲנָחָֽה׃פ (and sighing).
