1And He also said to His disciples, "There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and he was accused of wasting his master's goods. 2And after calling him, he said to him, 'What is this I hear concerning you? Render an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward. ' 3Now the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do, for my lord is taking away the stewardship from me? I am not able to dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4I know what I will do, that, when I have been removed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. ' 5And after calling each one of his lord's debtors to him, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe my lord?' 6And he said, 'A hundred baths of oil. ' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down immediately and write fifty. ' 7Then to another he said, 'And how much do you owe?' And he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat. ' And he said to him, 'Take your bill and write eighty. ' 8And the lord praised the unrighteous steward, because he had acted prudently. For the children of this world are more prudent in their own generation than the children of light. 9And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of the mammon of unrighteousness; so that, when you fail, they may receive you into the age-lasting dwellings.

10The one who is faithful in the things that are least is also faithful in much; and the one who is unrighteous in the things that are least is also unrighteous in much. 11Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you the true riches? 12And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give to you your own? 13No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and he will love the other; or he will hold to the one and will despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

14Now the Pharisees who were also covetous, heard all these things; and they ridiculed Him. 15And He said to them, "You are those who justify themselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is an abomination before God.

16The Law and the Prophets were until John; from that time the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone zealously strives to enter it. 17But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.

18Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and everyone who marries a woman who is divorced from her husband commits adultery.

19Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, and daily indulged himself in luxury. 20And there was a certain poor man named Lazarus, who was laid at his porch, full of sores. 21And he longed to be nourished with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table; and the dogs even came and licked his sores. 22Now it came to pass that the poor man died, and he was carried away by the angels into Abraham's bosom. And the rich man also died and was buried. 23And in the grave he lifted up his eyes and was in torment, for he saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have compassion on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am suffering because of this flame. ' 25Then Abraham said, 'Child, remember that in your lifetime you received good things to the full, and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted, and you are suffering. 26And besides all these things, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed; so that those who desire to pass from here to you are not able, nor can those from there pass to us. ' 27And he said, 'I beseech you then, father, that you would send him to my father's house, 28For I have five brothers; so that he may earnestly testify to them, in order that they also may not come to this place of torment. ' 29Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them hear them. ' 30But he said, 'No, Father Abraham, but if one from the dead would go to them, they would repent. ' 31And he said to him, 'If they will not hear Moses and the prophets, they would not be persuaded even if one rose from the dead. ' "
