Jacob Returns to Bethel

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1Then God said to Jacob, "Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau."1God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”1Then God said to Jacob, "Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau."1And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.1God said to Jacob, "Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau."
2So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.2So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you and purify yourselves and change your garments.2So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, "Put away the foreign gods which are among you, and purify yourselves and change your garments;2Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:2So Jacob said to his family and all who were with him, "Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves and change your clothes.
3Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone."3Then let us arise and go up to Bethel, so that I may make there an altar to the God who answers me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.”3and let us arise and go up to Bethel, and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone."3And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.3We must get up and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to the God who answered me in my day of distress. He has been with me everywhere I have gone."
4So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.4So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods that they had, and the rings that were in their ears. Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree that was near Shechem.4So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods which they had and the rings which were in their ears, and Jacob hid them under the oak which was near Shechem.4And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.4Then they gave Jacob all their foreign gods and their earrings, and Jacob hid them under the oak near Shechem.

5Then they set out, and the terror of God fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them.5And as they journeyed, a terror from God fell upon the cities that were around them, so that they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.5As they journeyed, there was a great terror upon the cities which were around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.5And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.5When they set out, a terror from God came over the cities around them, and they did not pursue Jacob's sons.
6Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.6And Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him,6So Jacob came to Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.6So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.6So Jacob and all who were with him came to Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.
7There he built an altar, and he called the place El Bethel, because it was there that God revealed himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.7and there he built an altar and called the place El-bethel, because there God had revealed himself to him when he fled from his brother.7He built an altar there, and called the place El-bethel, because there God had revealed Himself to him when he fled from his brother.7And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.7Jacob built an altar there and called the place God of Bethel because it was there that God had revealed Himself to him when he was fleeing from his brother.
8Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died and was buried under the oak outside Bethel. So it was named Allon Bakuth.8And Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died, and she was buried under an oak below Bethel. So he called its name Allon-bacuth.8Now Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died, and she was buried below Bethel under the oak; it was named Allon-bacuth.8But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.8Deborah, the one who had nursed and raised Rebekah, died and was buried under the oak south of Bethel. So Jacob named it Oak of Weeping.

Jacob is Named Israel

9After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.9God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him.9Then God appeared to Jacob again when he came from Paddan-aram, and He blessed him.9And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.9God appeared to Jacob again after he returned from Paddan-aram, and He blessed him.
10God said to him, "Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel." So he named him Israel.10And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; no longer shall your name be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.” So he called his name Israel.10God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; You shall no longer be called Jacob, But Israel shall be your name." Thus He called him Israel.10And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.10God said to him: Your name is Jacob; you will no longer be named Jacob, but your name will be Israel. So He named him Israel.
11And God said to him, "I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.11And God said to him, “I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall come from your own body.11God also said to him, "I am God Almighty; Be fruitful and multiply; A nation and a company of nations shall come from you, And kings shall come forth from you.11And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;11God also said to him: I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation, indeed an assembly of nations, will come from you, and kings will descend from you.
12The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you."12The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give the land to your offspring after you.”12"The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, And I will give the land to your descendants after you."12And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.12I will give to you the land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac. And I will give the land to your future descendants.

Benjamin is Born, Rachel Dies

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
16Then they moved on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and had great difficulty.16Then they journeyed from Bethel. When they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor, and she had hard labor.16Then they journeyed from Bethel; and when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth and she suffered severe labor.16And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.16They set out from Bethel. When they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth, and her labor was difficult.
17And as she was having great difficulty in childbirth, the midwife said to her, "Don't despair, for you have another son."17And when her labor was at its hardest, the midwife said to her, “Do not fear, for you have another son.”17When she was in severe labor the midwife said to her, "Do not fear, for now you have another son."17And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.17During her difficult labor, the midwife said to her, "Don't be afraid, for you have another son."
18As she breathed her last--for she was dying--she named her son Ben-Oni. But his father named him Benjamin.18And as her soul was departing (for she was dying), she called his name Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.18It came about as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.18And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.18With her last breath--for she was dying--she named him Ben-oni, but his father called him Benjamin.
19So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).19So Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem),19So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).19And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.19So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
