Share God's Works

The concept of sharing God's works is deeply rooted in the biblical narrative and is a fundamental aspect of Christian life and witness. It involves proclaiming the mighty acts and deeds of God, both in personal testimony and in the broader context of God's redemptive history as revealed in Scripture.

Biblical Foundation

The Bible consistently emphasizes the importance of declaring the works of God. In the Old Testament, the psalmists frequently exhort the faithful to recount God's deeds. Psalm 105:1-2 states, "Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders." This passage highlights the dual aspect of worship and proclamation, where believers are encouraged to both praise God and share His works with others.

In the New Testament, the mandate to share God's works is further underscored by the Great Commission. Jesus instructs His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20 , "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you." This command includes sharing the works of God as revealed in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Purpose and Impact

Sharing God's works serves multiple purposes. It is an act of obedience to God's commands, a means of edification for the believer, and a powerful testimony to the unbelieving world. By recounting God's deeds, believers affirm their faith and encourage one another. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages this mutual edification: "And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Moreover, sharing God's works is a form of evangelism. The early church exemplified this in Acts 4:33 , "With great power the apostles continued to give their testimony about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all." The apostles' testimony about God's work in Christ was central to the spread of the Gospel.

Methods of Sharing

Believers are called to share God's works through various means. Personal testimony is a powerful tool, as seen in the life of the Apostle Paul, who frequently recounted his conversion experience (Acts 22:6-21). Additionally, teaching and preaching are vital, as demonstrated by the early church's commitment to the apostles' teaching (Acts 2:42).

Worship and music also play a significant role in sharing God's works. The Psalms, often set to music, are a testament to the power of song in declaring God's deeds. Colossians 3:16 encourages believers to "Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."

Challenges and Encouragement

While sharing God's works is a biblical mandate, it is not without challenges. Believers may face opposition, indifference, or fear of rejection. However, Scripture provides encouragement and assurance. In 2 Timothy 1:7-8 , Paul reminds Timothy, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord."

Ultimately, sharing God's works is an act of faithfulness that brings glory to God and furthers His kingdom. As believers faithfully recount His deeds, they participate in the ongoing narrative of God's redemptive work in the world.
