Sin is generally understood as any action, thought, or attitude that falls short of God's perfect standard of holiness and righteousness. The impact of sin is multifaceted, affecting individuals, communities, and the entire creation.

Separation from God

The most profound impact of sin is the separation it causes between humanity and God. This separation is first illustrated in the account of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. When they disobeyed God's command, they were expelled from the garden, symbolizing a broken relationship with God (Genesis 3:23-24). Isaiah 59:2 states, "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."

Spiritual Death

Revelation 21:4 promises a future where "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away."
