Jesus’ miracles revealed His identity and inaugurated the kingdom of God, as when He turned water into wine, calmed the sea, multiplied bread, healed the sick, and raised the dead. The apostles likewise performed signs in Christ’s name, including the healing of the lame man at the temple gate (Acts 3:1–10). Such works authenticated the apostolic witness and directed attention not to human ability but to the risen Lord and the truth of the gospel.
