1 And having entered into a boat, He crossed over, and He came into His own city. 2 And behold, they were bringing to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. And Jesus, having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, “Take courage, child; your sins are forgiven.” 3 And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This One blasphemes!” 4 And Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, “Why do you? think evil in your? hearts? 5 For which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But so that you? may know that the Son of Man has authority on the earth to forgive sins...” Then He says to the paralytic, “Having arisen, take up your mat and go to your house.” 7 And having arisen, he went away to his house. 8 And the crowds, having seen, feared and glorified God, the One having given such authority to men. 9 And Jesus, passing on from there, saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and He says to him, “Follow Me.” And having risen up, he followed Him. 10 And it came to pass in His reclining in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners, having come, were reclining with Jesus and His disciples. 11 And having seen, the Pharisees were saying to His disciples, “Why does your? Teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners?” Matthew 9:1-11, Berean Literal Bible. Public domain.
