1 {A Psalm, a Song, for the Sabbath day.} It is good to give thanks unto Jehovah, and to sing psalms unto thy name, O Most High; It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,
2 To declare thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness in the nights, to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
3 Upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the lute; upon the Higgaion with the harp. to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
4 For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work; I will triumph in the works of thy hands. For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
5 Jehovah, how great are thy works! Thy thoughts are very deep: How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep! How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!
6 A brutish man knoweth not, neither doth a fool understand it. The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish, it is that they may be destroyed for ever. that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.
8 And thou, Jehovah, art on high for evermore. but you, O LORD, are on high forever. But you, LORD, are forever exalted.
9 For lo, thine enemies, O Jehovah, for lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. For behold, your enemies, O LORD, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered. For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like a buffalo's: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil. You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.
11 And mine eye shall see [its desire] on mine enemies; mine ears shall hear [it] of the evil-doers that rise up against me. My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants. My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
12 The righteous shall shoot forth like a palm-tree; he shall grow like a cedar on Lebanon. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 Those that are planted in the house of Jehovah shall flourish in the courts of our God: They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God. planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They are still vigorous in old age, they are full of sap and green; They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
15 To shew that Jehovah is upright: [he is] my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
