Protect my life (soul), for I am godly and faithful; O You my God, save Your servant, who trusts in You [believing in You and relying on You, confidently committing everything to You]. Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God;
Be gracious and merciful to me, O Lord, For to You I cry out all the day long. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
Make Your servant rejoice, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul [all that I am—in prayer]. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.
For You, O Lord, are good, and ready to forgive [our sins, sending them away, completely letting them go forever and ever]; And abundant in lovingkindness and overflowing in mercy to all those who call upon You. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you. You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
Hear, O LORD, my prayer; And listen attentively to the voice of my supplications (specific requests)! Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me. In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.
There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works [of wonder and majesty] like Yours. There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.
All nations whom You have made shall come and kneel down in worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
For You are great and do wondrous works! You alone are God. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
Teach me Your way, O LORD, I will walk and live in Your truth; Direct my heart to fear Your name [with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder]. Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
I will give thanks and praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart; And will glorify Your name forevermore. I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
For great is Your lovingkindness and graciousness toward me; And You have rescued my life from the depths of Sheol [from death]. For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.
O God, arrogant and insolent men have risen up against me; A band of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them. O God, insolent men have risen up against me; a band of ruthless men seeks my life, and they do not set you before them. Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you.
But You, O Lord, are a God [who protects and is] merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness and truth. But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Turn to me, and be gracious to me; Grant Your strength [Your might and the power to resist temptation] to Your servant, And save the son of Your handmaid. Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did.
Show me a sign of [Your] goodwill, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, O LORD, helped and comforted me. Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me. Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
