Unto the end, understanding for the sons of Core. As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God. As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. For the director of music. A maskil of the Sons of Korah. As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God? My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been any bread day and night, whilst it is said to me daily : Where is thy God? My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me : for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God : With the voice of joy and praise; the noise of one feasting. These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival. These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.
Why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
and my God. My soul is troubled within myself : therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill. and my God. My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
Deep calleth on deep, at the noise of thy flood-gates. All thy heights and thy billows have passed over me. Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.
In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; and a canticle to him in the night. With me is prayer to the God of my life. By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.
I will say to God : Thou art my support. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me? I say to God, my rock: “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?”
Whilst my bones are broken, my enemies who trouble me have reproached me; Whilst they say to me day be day : Where is thy God? As with a deadly wound in my bones, my adversaries taunt me, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
