For the choir director. A Maskil of the sons of Korah. As a deer longs for flowing streams, so I long for you, God. As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. For the director of music. A maskil of the Sons of Korah. As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
I thirst for God, the living God. When can I come and appear before God? My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been my food day and night, while all day long people say to me, “Where is your God? ” My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
I remember this as I pour out my heart: how I walked with many, leading the festive procession to the house of God, with joyful and thankful shouts. These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival. These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.
Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God. Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

My soul is cast down within me; therefore I remember you from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your billows have swept over me. Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.
The LORD will send his faithful love by day; his song will be with me in the night — a prayer to the God of my life. By day the LORD commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life.
I will say to God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression? ” I say to God, my rock: “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?”
My adversaries taunt me, as if crushing my bones, while all day long they say to me, “Where is your God? ” As with a deadly wound in my bones, my adversaries taunt me, while they say to me all the day long, “Where is your God?” My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
