1 Sing, you righteous, in YHWH, || [For] praise from upright ones [is] lovely. Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2 Give thanks to YHWH with a harp, || With stringed instrument of ten strings sing praise to Him, Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3 Sing to Him a new song, || Play skillfully with shouting. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
4 For the word of YHWH [is] upright, || And all His work [is] in faithfulness. For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
5 Loving righteousness and judgment, || The earth is full of the kindness of YHWH. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
6 By the word of YHWH || The heavens have been made, || And all their host by the breath of His mouth. By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7 Gathering the waters of the sea as a heap, || Putting the depths in treasuries. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses.
8 All the earth is afraid of YHWH, || All the inhabitants of the world are afraid of Him. Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.
9 For He has spoken, and it is, || He has commanded, and it stands. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
10 YHWH made void the counsel of nations, || He disallowed the thoughts of the peoples. The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11 The counsel of YHWH stands for all time, || The thoughts of His heart from generation to generation. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations. But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
12 O the blessedness of the nation whose God [is] YHWH, || Of the people He chose, || For an inheritance to Him. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
13 YHWH has looked from the heavens, || He has seen all the sons of men. The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;
14 From the fixed place of His dwelling, || He looked to all inhabitants of the earth; from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth—
15 Who is forming their hearts together, || Who is attending to all their works. he who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds. he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
16 The king is not saved by the multitude of a force. A mighty man is not delivered, || By abundance of power. The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17 A false thing [is] the horse for safety, || And he does not deliver || By the abundance of his strength. The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18 Behold, the eye of YHWH [is] to those fearing Him, || To those waiting for His kindness, Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 To deliver their soul from death, || And to keep them alive in famine. that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul has waited for YHWH, || He [is] our help and our shield, Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
21 For our heart rejoices in Him, || For we have trusted in His Holy Name. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
22 Let Your kindness, O YHWH, be on us, || As we have waited for You! Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.
