1 By David. To you, Yahweh, I lift up my soul. To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. Of David. In you, LORD my God, I put my trust.
2 My God, I have trusted in you. Don’t let me be shamed. Don’t let my enemies triumph over me. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 Yes, no one who waits for you will be shamed. They will be shamed who deal treacherously without cause. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.
4 Show me your ways, Yahweh. Teach me your paths. Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation. I wait for you all day long. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Yahweh, remember your tender mercies and your loving kindness, for they are from old times. Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
7 Don’t remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. Remember me according to your loving kindness, for your goodness’ sake, Yahweh. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD! Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good.
8 Good and upright is Yahweh, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
10 All the paths of Yahweh are loving kindness and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. All the ways of the LORD are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11 For your name’s sake, Yahweh, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. For your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great. For the sake of your name, LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
12 What man is he who fears Yahweh? He shall instruct him in the way that he shall choose. Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. Who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
13 His soul will dwell at ease. His offspring will inherit the land. His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land. They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land.
14 The friendship of Yahweh is with those who fear him. He will show them his covenant. The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant. The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are ever on Yahweh, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.
16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Oh bring me out of my distresses. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.
18 Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins. Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins.
19 Consider my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with cruel hatred. Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me!
20 Oh keep my soul, and deliver me. Let me not be disappointed, for I take refuge in you. Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. Guard my life and rescue me; do not let me be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, LORD, is in you.
22 God, redeem Israel out of all his troubles. Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. Deliver Israel, O God, from all their troubles!
