1 A Miktam of David. ”8224; Protect me, God, for I take refuge in you. Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. A miktam of David. Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
2 I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides you.” I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones. All my delight is in them. As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 The sorrows of those who take another god for themselves will multiply; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not speak their names with my lips. The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips.
5 LORD, you are my portion and my cup of blessing; you hold my future. The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will bless the LORD who counsels me — even at night when my thoughts trouble me. I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I always let the LORD guide me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my whole being rejoices; my body also rests securely. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
10 For you will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful one to see decay. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You reveal the path of life to me; in your presence is abundant joy; at your right hand are eternal pleasures. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
