I love the LORD, because He hears [and continues to hear] My voice and my supplications (my pleas, my cries, my specific needs). I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.
Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call on Him as long as I live. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.
The cords and sorrows of death encompassed me, And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow. The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, please save my life!” Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!” Then I called on the name of the LORD: “LORD, save me!”
Gracious is the LORD, and [consistently] righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful. The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
The LORD protects the simple (childlike); I was brought low [humbled and discouraged], and He saved me. The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. The LORD protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
For You have rescued my life from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from stumbling and falling. For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; For you, LORD, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling,
I will walk [in submissive wonder] before the LORD In the land of the living. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. that I may walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
I believed [and clung to my God] when I said, “I am greatly afflicted.” I believed, even when I spoke: “I am greatly afflicted”; I trusted in the LORD when I said, “I am greatly afflicted|;
I said in my alarm, “All men are liars.” I said in my alarm, “All mankind are liars.” in my alarm I said, “Everyone is a liar.”
What will I give to the LORD [in return] For all His benefits toward me? [How can I repay Him for His precious blessings?] What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation And call on the name of the LORD. I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.
I will pay my vows to the LORD, Yes, in the presence of all His people. I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
Precious [and of great consequence] in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones [so He watches over them]. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.
O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your handmaid; You have unfastened my chains. O LORD, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds. Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains.
I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call on the name of the LORD. I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.
I will pay my vows to the LORD, Yes, in the presence of all His people, I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,
In the courts of the LORD’S house (temple)— In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!) in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! in the courts of the house of the LORD— in your midst, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
