1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great wealth, good favor more than silver or gold. A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold. A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
2 The rich and the poor meet together; the LORD is the creator of them both. The rich and the poor meet together; the LORD is the Maker of them all. Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all.
3 A shrewd person sees danger and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going and suffer for it. The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it. The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

5 Thorns and snares are in the path of the perverse, but the one who guards himself keeps far from them. 6 Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

11 The one who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious--the king will be his friend. He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend. One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend.
12 The eyes of the LORD guard knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the faithless person. The eyes of the LORD keep watch over knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the traitor. The eyes of the LORD keep watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.

14 The mouth of an adulteress is like a deep pit; the one against whom the LORD is angry will fall into it. 18 For it is pleasing if you keep these sayings within you, and they are ready on your lips. for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips. for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.
