1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD said to Moses,
2 Command the children of Israel, and then shalt say to them: When you are entered into the land of Chanaan, and it shall be fallen into your possession by lot, it shall be bounded by these limits: “Command the people of Israel, and say to them, When you enter the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan as defined by its borders), “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan, the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance is to have these boundaries:
3 The south side shall begin from the wilderness of Sin, which is by Edom: and shall have the most salt sea for its furthest limits eastward: your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin alongside Edom, and your southern border shall run from the end of the Salt Sea on the east. “’Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea,
4 Which limits shall go round on the south side by the ascent of the Scorpion and so into Senna, and reach toward the south as far as Cadesbarne, from whence the frontiers shall go out to the town called Adar, and shall reach as far as Asemona. And your border shall turn south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and cross to Zin, and its limit shall be south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it shall go on to Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon. cross south of Scorpion Pass, continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon,
5 And the limits shall fetch a compass from Asemona to the torrent of Egypt, and shall end in the shore of the great sea. And the border shall turn from Azmon to the Brook of Egypt, and its limit shall be at the sea. where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 And the west side shall begin from the great sea, and the same shall be the end thereof. “For the western border, you shall have the Great Sea and its coast. This shall be your western border. “’Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This will be your boundary on the west.
7 But toward the north side the borders shall begin from the great sea, reaching to the most high mountain, “This shall be your northern border: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line to Mount Hor. “’For your northern boundary, run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor
8 From which they shall come to Emath, as far as the borders of Sedada: From Mount Hor you shall draw a line to Lebo-hamath, and the limit of the border shall be at Zedad. and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath. Then the boundary will go to Zedad,
9 nod the limits shall go as far as Zephrona, and the village of Enan. These shall be the borders on the north side. Then the border shall extend to Ziphron, and its limit shall be at Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern border. continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10 From thence they shall mark out the bounds towards the east side from the village of Enan unto Sephama. “You shall draw a line for your eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham. “’For your eastern boundary, run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham.
11 And from Sephama the bounds shall go down to Rebla over against the fountain of Daphnis: from thence they shall come eastward to the sea of Cenereth, And the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain. And the border shall go down and reach to the shoulder of the Sea of Chinnereth on the east. The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.
12 And shall reach as far as the Jordan, and at the last shall be closed in by the most salt sea. This shall be your land with its borders round about. And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its limit shall be at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land as defined by its borders all around.” Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea. “’This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
13 And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: This shall be the land which you shall possess by lot, and which the Lord hath commanded to be given to the nine tribes, and to the half tribe. Moses commanded the people of Israel, saying, “This is the land that you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe. Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot as an inheritance. The LORD has ordered that it be given to the nine-and-a-half tribes,
14 For the tribe of the children of Ruben by their families, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the number of their kindreds, and half of the tribe of Manasses, For the tribe of the people of Reuben by fathers’ houses and the tribe of the people of Gad by their fathers’ houses have received their inheritance, and also the half-tribe of Manasseh. because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.
15 That is, two tribes and a half, have received their portion beyond the Jordan over against Jericho at the east side. The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, toward the sunrise.” These two-and-a-half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”
16 And the Lord said to Moses: The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD said to Moses,
17 These are the names of the men, that shall divide the land unto you: Eleazar the priest, and Josue the son of Nun, “These are the names of the men who shall divide the land to you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun.
18 And one prince of every tribe, You shall take one chief from every tribe to divide the land for inheritance. And appoint one leader from each tribe to help assign the land.
19 Whose names are these : Of the tribe of Juda, Caleb the son of Jephone. These are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh. These are their names: Caleb son of Jephunneh, from the tribe of Judah;
20 Of the tribe of Simeon, Samuel the son of Ammiud. Of the tribe of the people of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud. Shemuel son of Ammihud, from the tribe of Simeon;
21 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chaselon. Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon. Elidad son of Kislon, from the tribe of Benjamin;
22 Of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bocci the son of Jogli. Of the tribe of the people of Dan a chief, Bukki the son of Jogli. Bukki son of Jogli, the leader from the tribe of Dan;
23 Of the children of Joseph of the tribe of Manasses, Hanniel the son of Ephod. Of the people of Joseph: of the tribe of the people of Manasseh a chief, Hanniel the son of Ephod. Hanniel son of Ephod, the leader from the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph;
24 Of the tribe of Ephraim, Camuel the son of Sephtan. And of the tribe of the people of Ephraim a chief, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan. Kemuel son of Shiphtan, the leader from the tribe of Ephraim son of Joseph;
25 Of the tribe of Zabulon, Elisaphan the son of Pharnach. Of the tribe of the people of Zebulun a chief, Elizaphan the son of Parnach. Elizaphan son of Parnak, the leader from the tribe of Zebulun;
26 Of the tribe of Issachar, Phaltiel the prince, the son of Ozan. Of the tribe of the people of Issachar a chief, Paltiel the son of Azzan. Paltiel son of Azzan, the leader from the tribe of Issachar;
27 Of the tribe of Aser, Ahiud the son of Salomi. And of the tribe of the people of Asher a chief, Ahihud the son of Shelomi. Ahihud son of Shelomi, the leader from the tribe of Asher;
28 Of the tribe of Nephtali: Phedael the son of Ammiud. Of the tribe of the people of Naphtali a chief, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.” Pedahel son of Ammihud, the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29 These are they whom the Lord hath commanded to divide the land of Chanaan to the children of Israel,. These are the men whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance for the people of Israel in the land of Canaan. These are the men the LORD commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.
