4 But answering, He said, “It has been written: ‘Not on bread alone shall the man live, but on every word coming out through the mouth of God.’” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil takes Him to the holy city, and he set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
6 and he says to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it has been written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and on hands they will lift You up, lest ever You might strike Your foot against a stone.’” and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “’He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “Again it has been written: ‘You shall not test the Lord your God.’” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
8 Again the devil takes Him to a mountain exceedingly high and shows to Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give to You if, falling down, You worship me.” And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Then Jesus says to him, “Go away, Satan! For it has been written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
11 Then the devil leaves Him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to Him. Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him. Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
12 And having heard that John was delivered up, He withdrew into Galilee. Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.
13 And having left Nazareth, having come, He dwelt at Capernaum, which is by the sea in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali, And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali—
14 that it might be fulfilled, that having been spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and to those sitting in the region and shadow of death, a light dawned on them.” the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”
17 From that time Jesus began to proclaim and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.” From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
18 And walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 20 And immediately, having left the nets, they followed Him. Immediately they left their nets and followed him. At once they left their nets and followed him.
21 And having gone on from there, He saw two others, brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets; and He called them. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.
25 And there followed Him many crowds from Galilee, and the Decapolis, and Jerusalem, and Judea, and beyond the Jordan. And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
