AND when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet, then Jesus sent two disciples, Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,
Saying to them: Go ye into the village that is over against you, and immediately you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them and bring them to me. saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me.
And if any man shall say anything to you, say ye, that the Lord hath need of them: and forthwith he will let them go. If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.” If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying, This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of her that is used to the yoke. “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’” “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”
And the disciples going, did as Jesus commanded them. The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.
And they brought the ass and the colt, and laid their garments upon them, and made him sit thereon. They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.
And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way: and others cut boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the way: Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
And the multitudes that went before and that followed, cried, saying: Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
And when he was come into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying: Who is this? And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
And the people said: This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee. And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the chairs of them that sold doves: And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
And he saith to them: It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.” “It is written,” he said to them, “’My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”
And there came to him the blind and the lame in the temple; and he healed them. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
And the chief priests and scribes, seeing the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying: Hosanna to the son of David; were moved with indignation. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant, But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.
And said to him: Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus said to them: Yea, have you never read: Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise? and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, “‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise’?” “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, “’From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”
And leaving them, he went out of the city into Bethania, and remained there. And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there. And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.
And in the morning, returning into the city, he was hungry. In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.
And seeing a certain fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only, and he saith to it: May no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away. And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.
And the disciples seeing it wondered, saying: How is it presently withered away? When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
And Jesus answering, said to them: Amen, I say to you, if you shall have faith, and stagger not, not only this of the fig tree shall you do, but also if you shall say to this mountain, Take up and cast thyself into the sea, it shall be done. And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.
And in all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
