And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, The LORD said to Moses,
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am Jehovah your God. “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, I am the LORD your God. “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the LORD your God.
After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their customs. You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.
Mine ordinances shall ye do and my statutes shall ye observe to walk therein: I am Jehovah your God. You shall follow my rules and keep my statutes and walk in them. I am the LORD your God. You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.
And ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, by which the man that doeth them shall live: I am Jehovah. You shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; if a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the LORD. Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.
No one shall approach to any that is his near relation, to uncover his nakedness: I am Jehovah. “None of you shall approach any one of his close relatives to uncover nakedness. I am the LORD. “’No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD.
The nakedness of thy father, and the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father, which is the nakedness of your mother; she is your mother, you shall not uncover her nakedness. “’Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.
The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is your father’s nakedness. “’Do not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; that would dishonor your father.
The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, born at home, or born abroad -- their nakedness shalt thou not uncover. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether brought up in the family or in another home. “’Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.
The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter -- their nakedness shalt thou not uncover; for theirs is thy nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son’s daughter or of your daughter’s daughter, for their nakedness is your own nakedness. “’Do not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter; that would dishonor you.
The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father: she is thy sister: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, brought up in your father’s family, since she is your sister. “’Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.
The nakedness of thy father's sister shalt thou not uncover: she is thy father's near relation. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is your father’s relative. “’Do not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative.
The nakedness of thy mother's sister shalt thou not uncover; for she is thy mother's near relation. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s relative. “’Do not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative.
The nakedness of thy father's brother shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not approach his wife: she is thine aunt. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother, that is, you shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt. “’Do not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.
The nakedness of thy daughter-in-law shalt thou not uncover: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law; she is your son’s wife, you shall not uncover her nakedness. “’Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her.
The nakedness of thy brother's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy brother's nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness. “’Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would dishonor your brother.
The nakedness of a woman and her daughter shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not take her son's daughter, nor her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness: they are her near relations: it is wickedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and of her daughter, and you shall not take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter to uncover her nakedness; they are relatives; it is depravity. “’Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.
And thou shalt not take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness beside her, during her life. And you shall not take a woman as a rival wife to her sister, uncovering her nakedness while her sister is still alive. “’Do not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.
And thou shalt not approach a woman in the separation of her uncleanness to uncover her nakedness. “You shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness while she is in her menstrual uncleanness. “’Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.
And thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to become unclean with her. And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor’s wife and so make yourself unclean with her. “’Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.
And thou shalt not give of thy seed to let them pass through [the fire] to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am Jehovah. You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. “’Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.
And thou shalt not lie with mankind as one lieth with a woman: it is an abomination. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. “’Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.
And thou shalt lie with no beast to become unclean therewith; and a woman shall not stand before a beast to lie down with it: it is confusion. And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion. “’Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.
Make not yourselves unclean in any of these things; for in all these have the nations which I am casting out before you made themselves unclean. “Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, “’Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.
And the land hath become unclean; and I visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land vomiteth out its inhabitants. and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.
But ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of all these abominations: the home-born, and the stranger that sojourneth among you; But you shall keep my statutes and my rules and do none of these abominations, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the foreigners residing among you must not do any of these detestable things,
(for all these abominations have the men of the land done, who were before you, and the land hath been made unclean); (for the people of the land, who were before you, did all of these abominations, so that the land became unclean), for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled.
that the land vomit you not out, when ye make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. lest the land vomit you out when you make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you. And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.
For whoever committeth any of these abominations, ... the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people. For everyone who does any of these abominations, the persons who do them shall be cut off from among their people. “’Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people.
And ye shall observe my charge, that ye commit not [any] of the abominable customs which were committed before you; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean therein: I am Jehovah your God. So keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.” Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the LORD your God.’”
